has Haymon's name written all over it. Algieri just won the belt in June and there are no mandatory challengers. This is totally unfair.

Agree. They really want to get a belt around Broners waist. If my Prediction is true, I believe the number 3 fighter on the WBO Rankings is Jason Pagara. 34-2, 21 KO's, His record looks good, but he has never fought in the US, And has never fought anyone of Broners caliber. Then Broner will beat the winner of Provo vs Matthysse.

Ridiculous. Have they a reason as to why they've taken his title?

This better lead to Matthysse vs Provodnikov getting made!

The winner of Matthysse vs Provodnikov most likely would fight The New Future WBO Champion Adrien Broner.

This is strange. Algieri is fighting for the WBO 147 title, why would the WBO strip him of his 140 WBO title? You could maybe see they were tight if Algieri goes up to fight for another organization, then they could kind of explain their corruption as just being butt hurt. But Algieri is still fighting for the same org. but in a different weight class. And it's only been 4 months since he got it.

Any one know what rule is being implemented here by the WBO?

hes fighting at 144 catchweight. hes not defending the title. if he doesnt defend the title, WBO dont get their cut. they will strip him and now a title eliminator must be made, where they will make money.

algieri doesn't give two ****s about that belt, now that he's getting a payday fighting Pacquiao

i don't agree that he should've been stripped, and it stinks of corruption

but for a guy who's never won a title before, after he wins it to just not defend it and fight the most popular fighter in the world for a huge paycheck

i doubt algieri thought he would get stripped but the WBO could argue that it's a slap in the face to their organization for a guy to win a title for the first time, and then not defend it/ignore he has it
