Comments Thread For: Fortuna Vows: This Will Be The End of Abner Cotto!

At the UIC Pavilion in Chicago on Saturday night, the opening bout of the Showtime telecast will showcase a Dominican Republic vs. Puerto Rico rivalry. Undefeated former interim-WBA featherweight world champion Javier “El Abejon” Fortuna (25-0-1, 18 KOs) will take on Puerto Rico's Abner “Pin” Cotto (18-2, 8 KOs) in a ten round super featherweight bout.

Fortuna is not only looking to make a statement in the match, he wants to end the pro run of Cotto, who is related to WBC middleweight champion Miguel Cotto. Fortuna has punching power and promises to put his talents on display in the match.

Abner was beat by a bigger fighter, and that loss was a lesson. 130 may be his weight and Fortuna looked beatable last time out. Abner has a chance IMO, this should be good.

Yeah but he just looked like crap in his fight against Figueroa. If he fights Fortuna anything like he did against Figueroa he won't last 5 rds.

Figueroa is a lightweight champion and a heavy puncher. Javier wont have the size advantage and I believe Cotto has the better footwork. Cotto looks to be the better boxer, Fortuna the bigger puncher, but not big enough, not as big as Figueroa.
