  • Comments Thread For: Rigondeaux Unable To Get Foe, Interim-Title in Play

Guillermo Rigondeaux (14-0, 9KOs) can't catch a break. The WBO/WBA super bantamweight champion has been unable to get the other champions of his division in the ring and now he can't get the top contenders in the rankings to face him.

The WBO had previously ordered Rigondeaux to defend his title against Chris Avalos. The challenger passed on the opportunity, instead choosing to pursue his mandatory shot against IBF champion Carl Frampton.

This is even more bad news for Rigo, no top level challengers want to face him at this point and he can't get signed to a major contract by either Roc Nation or Warren because of Leech Caribe "Promotions". At this rate, he will be in his late 30's by the time other champions challenge him.

Move to featherweight and challenge Nicholas Walters.

I'm sure he will accept the challenge.

Rigo may be forced to move up to 126 if he wants any big fights.. there will be plenty of guys at 126 who will welcome him to the division!

I see you are not updated about it. Walters was interviewed in spanish, about the possibility of facing Rigondeaux, and he said he wasn't interested because Rigondeaux has an amateur style and he doesn't fight, just runs.

So, there you have your boy Walters.

A whole bunch of guys refuse to face Rigo for the belt, so the WBO are rewarding them by giving them an interim belt to fight one another for. Sanctioning fees ftw.
