Comments Thread For: Donovan George Suspended, Davis Win Now a No-Contest

Donovan George’s biggest year of his pro boxing career has hit a snag that could potentially alter his immediate future.

The Chicagoland super middleweight has been placed on suspension by the Illinois Boxing Commission, with his August 23 win over Dyah Davis changed to a no-contest. Specifics behind the ruling have yet to be revealed, other than the fact that the commission has in fact reached out to all relevant parties.

That sucks wonder if it was a diuretic could be why he accepted the Pascal fight at 75 as for Pascal that will likely lead to a very poor opponent instead.

word in the gyms is that george popped a viagra/cialis hybrid prior to the fight and davis was distracted by his raging boner. apparently, davis got poked by it a couple times while they were in-fighting

Story updated. According to George's promoter Bobby Hitz, George was taken an anti-inflammatory for a previously injured hand (which he wound up breaking during the fight), but accidentally failed to disclose to the commission beforehand.

If this is true, or a similar variation of drug was detected for similar reasons, IMO being as much of a strict rules policy is just as bad as being lax on tests. Both produce bad results and harm the fighters in the long and short term.

"He forgot to check the box"

After Lamont forgot to disclose what he was on, and Mikey Bey forgot to ask the Dr what he was on, you'd think fighters would be less 'forgetful' when answering direct questions about what they've put into their bodies. Sometimes it almost seems as if they're trying to cover something up...

Never been that impressed by George either in the ring or more particularly out of it. This is most significant (apart from to Don himself of course) in that it leaves Pascal without a credible opponent before a potential Stevenson matchup early next year.

If Pascal - Stevenson is gonna happen early 2015, Jean will have been outta the ring for over a year and Stevenson close to 9 months. Ain't a good look for Canadas biggests stars, both of whom can pack venues even fighting lesser opposition. Newbie Beterbiev has had a more impressive 2014 than either of the established 'stars'.
