  • Comments Thread For: Shawn Porter Eyes Ring Return in January With Tough Foe

BoxingScene.com recently spoke to Kenny Porter, father and trainer of former IBF welterweight champion Shawn Porter, to get the latest news on his son's career.

Porter was last in the ring in August when he lost his belt via majority decision to Kell Brook. There hasn't been any talk of a rematch and the elder Porter said that is because there is zero interest on Brook's side.

As a fan I'd like to see that, but that's a career changing fight for both fighters. They would both take a lot of punishment in that fight, so I think it would make more sense if a belt was on the line or if there was heaps of interest, which there isn't.

I would like to see him mix it up with Keith Thurman but i highly doubt it would happen

I don't think Haymon would put Maidana in with Porter. They're both Haymon fighters, although possible, I doubt it.

Porter vs Berto or Porter vs Guerrero would be good come back fights.

Funny thing is Upshaw (or w/e his name is) showed the tools to beat Berto.. he was just lazy, not in top shape, or just didn't care. I think he just didn't care, I seriously thought he could of beat Berto if he used his reach and height advantage.. but I remember he stopped jabbing and let Berto just get inside.
