It's bad enough he was struggling early on but again that's not surprising to me, his punching technique isn't very good, neither is his speed and his head/ upper body movement isn't quick either. This is why Gamboa was tagging him, I think he's in trouble if he doesn't improve on some of those things.

Potential to be great, I can only think of Andrade and Golovkin at the moment.
just ignore the fact that gamboa is a fast little **** with cuban amateur background. Because a fast guy like gamboa was able to hit him a few times makes you think he doesn't have potential to be great is kind of weird.

In his other fights he has demonstrated very good defense barely losing rounds or getting hit. He has 17 KO's out of 24 fights. I can only imagine if his punching technique was good.

I have to ask though, how is that suppose to impress me when Gamboa is forced to exchange because of the size deficit? He is clearly out of his depth at LW and if not Crawford, someone else would have done it to Gamboa.
Seeing how well Gamboa was doing in the earlier rounds, I don't think it's likely just anybody would have beaten him like Crawford did. In this case, he was up against a highly skilled, intelligent boxer. Sure Crawford had the size-advantage but it's not like that was all it took to beat Gamboa.

Not really, maybe against the opposition he's in with but I've seen him get sloppy both defensively/ offensively and one only wonders how he'll get away with that against stronger opposition.

        • Pac vs Beltran. Master vs Disciple let's get it on!

          • I don't get why people get mad at these offered options for Pacquiao.

There is no1 he can fight @ WW that has a deserving pedigree and non-Haymon aligned. he's already at the highest weight he can comfortably fight at, the dude belongs at 140.

Who should he fight after Algieri? Hopefully Danny Garcia because every other option "isn't good enough" or "they're not WW's, they're too light"... Pacquiao only fought at WW because the biggest $$ was available there.

            • If there had been no big names probably Pac would still be ssuper featherweight. Amazing thought.

Your ignoring a lot of the counters Gamboa caught him with in the exchanges, that showed Crawford isn't as defensively responsible as you think. Had Gamboa belonged at the weight Crawford would have found himself in trouble. His chin was up in the air at times.

Man you need to understand the game. If anything it showed that crawford is an intelligent fighter. He was in there with a faster guy who was beating him to the punch, so he forced the action and created exchanges in which he knew his size and power would negate gamboa's speed.

Against a big puncher in presscot he boxed and never got hit with a big shot.

Crawford shouldn't have gotten beaten to the punch with the ranginess that he possessed, that's exactly my point. Even with Gamboa's speed advantage, Crawford should have been able to distance himself a lot easier and he struggled to do that for a large portion of the fight. When he initiated he still got caught in the exchanges with punches that had little to no affect because of the considerable size advantage he had, eventually he got careless and was forced to recover. That's no testament to his "intelligence".
