He's still a player in the division, but he should avoid a Wlad rematch.

But watching the whole fight, I certainly didn't see Povetkin getting manhandled early/mid rounds like the writer made it sound. Looked more like Takam did not slowly break Povetkin down, and Povetkin DID slowly break Takam down. Povetkin has never been known as a defensive wizard, but he is a solid chunk of gristle. Wicked KO though.

What knocked Takam out? I saw the right hook, but looked like something after that

The replay from another direction shows it was a left hook thrown after the right that put Takam down and out.

Very entertaining and competitive fight through the first eight rounds. Povetkin definitely has some whiskers on him.
