Anywhere outside Argentina Murray would have won that fight against Martinez. He beat Strum too. I reckon Murray would beat Cotto inside the distance, so GGG is an obvious fight for him. He's unlikely to win, but he's got a better chance than most.

Nah. Elsewhere he would have won that fight.

Agree. Murray dropped Sergio twice (only one was granted) and also had him in bad condition and should have won the fight but a home decision helped Sergio to retain the title. However, let's not forget that Sergio already had health issues (which started during/after the Chavez Jr. fight) so then Martinez was limited and Murray winning that fight wouldn't have the same value anymore.

Yeah, I agree. I'm not claiming a prime Murray could/would beat a prime Sergio... just that Sergio isn't prime anymore and that Murray would have got the nod if not in Argentina. As of now, not legacy, Murray is the most competent fighter @160 IMO other than 3xG. He should have an untarnished record.

Correct me if I am wrong, but didn't he turn down the GGG fight, when he was the mandatory to his belt?

That high guard he employs would be horrible against Golovkin's body shots.

An in-form Murray would beat those two, they have suspect chins and he beat Martinez too.

I think he was having contractual BS at the time (moved away from Hatton). Paperwork gets in the way of many fights. They're slated to meet in Monte Carlo apparently... maybe.
