Comments Thread For: Roy Jones Jr. Leaning To Hopkins To Defeat Kovalev

HBO expert analyst and former four division world champion, Roy Jones Jr., is leaning in the direction of his former opponent, WBA/IBF light heavyweight champion Bernard Hopkins (55-6-2, 32KOs), to defeat WBO champion Sergey Kovalev (25-0-1, 23KOs) on November 8th at the Boardwalk Hall in Atlantic City.

Jones, who defeated Hopkins in 1993 and then lost to him seventeen years later in 2010, gives his conqueror a good shot to win - as long as he's able to withstand the likely early storm. Kovalev has never gone beyond eight rounds, stopping most of his victims in the first six rounds.

How the **** are you going to call Hopkins Jones's conqueror? Hopkins did't conquer **** against a shot Roy Jones. I thought he was just as shot when that fight was over.

        Overall very poorly written

Not only because of what you mentioned but jones wasn't leaning towards Hopkins in his pick. He's on the fence.

I feel Hopkins will fight Kovalev exactly how Floyd fought Maidana in the 2nd fight, using movement and clinching, essentially frustrating and tiring Kovalev

hopkins doesnt run around the ring like floyd, he uses guile, he has old legs,

and when bhop clinches, he will throw punches too, floyd was wrapping both his arms arounds maidanas elbows preventing any punching, thats called illegal holding

              its clearly very different.

you are nitpicking man...the point is he will use movement and clinching, which is smart...and yes i know Hopkins is a rougher fighter then Mayweather. But both are thinkers and Hopkins will out think him
