WBC Silver heavyweight champion Carlos Takam(30-1-1, 23 KOs), will defend his crown against Russia's Alexander Povetkin (27-1, 19 KOs) in downtown Moscow on Saturday night. Takam won the title in his last fight defeating Tony Thompson on points in June, in a bout that took place on the Marcel Cerdan de Houts de Seine Sports Palace in France. Povetkin is coming off an impressive knockout of Manuel Charr, conquering the WBC International title in the process. [Click Here To Read More]

Povetkin is the real deal. He didn't just fight hobos until Wlad gave him a shot then retire when he lost. He has fought solid opponents for years now.

yea,,,,hes definitely not going to go down easy. should be a tough fight for povetkin. I think he should win a fairly lopsided decision tho. takam is strong but doesn't have the speed to trouble povetkin too much imo

This is a GREAT, fairly evenly-matched HW fight.

This is the future of the HW division, IMO. As much as I love Wlad, he's just too damn good for everyone!

I like the idea of a dominant HW champ, but I also like to see evenly matched HW fights like this.

When Wlad retires, and I'm not looking forward to it or anything, there will be fights like this every few months. As guys like Wilder, Stiverne, Takam, Povetkin, Fury, Glazkov, Jennings, and even guys like Price, Arreola, Cunningham, and Thompson...

+ Helenius as he's about to take a comeback fight in early 2015, his hand is now fully healed and he only needs 8 week camp to get proper sparring (according to his own words), his been preparing his technique, stamina and strength already almost a year so.. stay tuned!

I say Povetkin gets stopped in the late rounds when his Stamina fades. Takam can go a high pace from start to finish.
