Comments Thread For: Alexander: Mayweather Wants No Part of Black Fighters

Devon Alexander (26-2, 14KOs) has a big fight ahead of him, when he faces Amir Khan 29-3, 19KOs) in a battle of former champions on December 13th from the Mandalay Bay in Las Vegas. The winner of Khan-Alexander is likely to become a frontrunner to face WBC/WBA welterweight champion Floyd Mayweather Jr. (46-0, 26KOs) in May.

At one point in early 2013, Mayweather mentioned Alexander as a possible opponent. There were never any serious discussions, with Mayweather using Alexander's name as a swerve - because Mayweather had already finalized a fight with Robert Guerrero.

It's true. He knows that natural athleticism of a black boxer would pose problems to him, it has in the past, and it certainly would now that he's slow down a bit.

He's looking for another cement footed, tough as nails, Latino...for May 2015.

Mayweather like fighting slow flat footed fighters. Judah was beating his ass until judah faded like usual.

nobody wants to see Mayweather and another slick african-american fighter, it'd be a bad styles clash. Especially Mayweather-Alexander, what a horrid fight that would be.

Alexander lost to porter, who lost to brook and he thinks he deserves mayweather. If khan beats alexander means nothing, khan needs to beat brook or thurman to deserve mayweather.
