World Boxing Council President, Mauricio Sulaiman, says WBC middleweight champion Miguel Cotto (39-4, 32KOs) will be allowed a voluntary defense before facing the new WBC interim-champion Gennady Golovkin (31-0, 28KOs).
Cotto became the WBC middleweight champion this past June by stopping Argentinian, Sergio “Maravilla” Martinez, in the tenth round at Madison Square Garden in New York.
