the thread starter asked a simple question...not who we think are better
We don't know anything until he faces them or better competition in the ring...Lara, and Trout are no easy outs at 154 and 160
GGG isn't exactly knocking out world beaters or pound for pound types like Ward, Froch, Hopkins, or Mayweather at 160...not hard for a guy that good to look good at the level of fighter he faces.
Golovkin is clearly a world class fighter. The guys he's fighting haven't been the top level, but not many of his opponents have been dealt with in similar fashion as he deals with them.
Macklin just said on ringside that GGG broke 2 of his ribs with that bodyshot, and GGG didn't even break a sweat! He's clearly world class.
p4p is more than an eye test...would I favor GGG....damn right...would I count Canelo out....hell no
He has good defense and has shown a good chin....they hydrate around the same size and GGG is there to be hit....Also GGG has not been in with any big punchers and Canelo has good power just not one punch power....his combos are almost seemless. Its a pick em to me.
He not walking through Canelo's punches like he did powderpuff puncher Geale, Ouma, and Macklin
Canelo is p4p higher because he has shown his worth beating better competition...so this logic doesn't apply to GGG only, right?
Sometimes you're in close fights when you fight good opposition. He fought Lara who many didn't think he'd fight and squeezed out a win. He beat Trout who beat Cotto at Cotto's best weight. Legitimately beat up Angulo, fought Mayweather, Mosley (shot version) and Josesito Lopez.
He fought the likes of Matthew Hatton and Ryan Rhodes when he was 21 years old. Honestly, they're on a similar kind of european type level as Stevens and Adama and those guys.
Daniel Geale was a good fighter, but he wasn't really that good and Macklin is certainly nothing special either.

Since GGG beat Rubio why does it seem people are confusing world class with being a pound for pound fighter
He has proven he is world class by beating world class opposition in his weight class....I never said he wasn't world class
He just has not faced the opposition and does not have the resume to say he is a top 10 p4p guy right now but he definitely has the talent.
