Comments Thread For: Hopkins: Kovalev Claiming Mental Games is Lame Excuse

Bernard Hopkins is known for many things inside the ring: guile, counter-punching and defense among them.

But perhaps his best asset is his ability get in an opponent's head before the fight.

Sergey Kovalev is well aware that Hopkins likes to play mind games, and he doesn't want to fall prey ahead of their Nov. 8 unification matchup.

I'm a long-time B-Hop fan .... But in this fight, he will lose. B-Hop will then go on a long rant about how he was cheated, and how badly they wanted Kovalev to be Champ. We've been here before .....

Kovalev is ****ed if he lets Hopkins in his head. Hopkins knows that. Like Floyd, Hopkins has that ability to make a guy walk in the ring thinking, "oh ****," I'm fighting Bernard Hopkins, and it negatively effects them. They fight tense, they fight cautious, they think too much, and they lose.
