I remember reading an interview with Emmanuel Steward a couple years ago, just before Pacquiao fought Margarito, i belive. He said that this generation didn't have any real punchers, he said that maybe Pacquiao was the one true puncher in boxing at that time, but then he corrected himself and said that Manny's KOs came mostly through speed and angles.
Taking that into account, let's take a look at this generation - Bonafide punchers all around, at least one in almost every "glamour" division.
Light-Heavyweight - Sergey Kovalev, Adonis Stevenson, Arthur Beterbiev
Super-Middleweight - Gilberto Ramirez
Middleweight - Gennady Golovkin, Ievgen Khytrov (who was known as a ko puncher even in his amateur days), Danny Jacobs.
Welterweight - Maidana, Thurman
Light-welterweight - Lucas Matthysse, Ruslan Provodnikov
Featherweight - Walter, Donaire, Gonzales
Flyweight - Roman Gonzales
Damn, when was the last time we've saw so many bonafide punchers fighting in the high level at the same time. The 80's maybe?
Damn...
