    Generation of punchers?

I remember reading an interview with Emmanuel Steward a couple years ago, just before Pacquiao fought Margarito, i belive. He said that this generation didn't have any real punchers, he said that maybe Pacquiao was the one true puncher in boxing at that time, but then he corrected himself and said that Manny's KOs came mostly through speed and angles.

Taking that into account, let's take a look at this generation - Bonafide punchers all around, at least one in almost every "glamour" division.

Light-Heavyweight - Sergey Kovalev, Adonis Stevenson, Arthur Beterbiev
    Super-Middleweight - Gilberto Ramirez
Middleweight - Gennady Golovkin, Ievgen Khytrov (who was known as a ko puncher even in his amateur days), Danny Jacobs.
    Welterweight - Maidana, Thurman
Light-welterweight - Lucas Matthysse, Ruslan Provodnikov
    Featherweight - Walter, Donaire, Gonzales
    Flyweight - Roman Gonzales

Damn, when was the last time we've saw so many bonafide punchers fighting in the high level at the same time. The 80's maybe?

    Damn...

I wasn't taking the HW division in account, because, well, they're heavyweights, they are supposed to KO each other. But, yeah, Wilder has some pretty formidable power, if nothing else.

lol what? maidana a bonafide puncher? danny jacobs is barely even b level...just so he can punch against scrubs don't mean ****. a BONAFIDE puncher has to be able to do it against top level opponents. Beterbiev has had only one top level opponent..if you consider Cloud like that. Matthysse isn't as thunderous a puncher as he is made out to be. He couldn't even KO old man judah and everyone KOs Judah lol

The only real scary punchers comparable to other great punchers of the past are Kovalev, Stevenson and GGG.

It's nice to see some skilled punchers in the sport these days, running so many divisions. Wlad is a puncher, Kovalev and Stevenson are punchers, Golovkin obviously, Alvarez can punch, Danny Garcia can punch, Mikey Garcia can punch, Rigo can punch, the featherweights can all punch.

It's nice as a fan to have that element of "any shot can end it" when watching title fights.
