  • Comments Thread For: Golovkin, Rubio Reach Agreement on Additional Pounds

The show will go on between middleweights Gennady Golovkin and Marco Antonio Rubio, as both sides agreed to terms for a modified weight limit following Friday’s follies at the scales.

Rubio stripped all the way down to his bare essentials but still tipped the scales at a beefy 161.8 lb, nearly two pounds over the allowed 160 lb. limit for Saturday’s title fight at StubHub Center in Carson, California. The veteran was granted two hours to sweat off the additional weight, but opted to come in at present form rather than further weaken himself, a safe assumption that he didn’t believe he could effectively make weight.

California also has that rule about missing weight that Ward tried to use on Rodriguez to get more money. 20% of Rubio's push is taken away. Half goes to the commission and half goes to the opponent.

Rubio trying to cheat, wouldn't be surprised if he is roided out of his mind too.

Another bigger great fighter will be made out to look like nothing by Golovkin. Much respect to Golovkin for putting up with all the cheating and still going thru with the fight.

Still looking forward to this one! Rubio just created a no risk situation for GGG...

Also interested to see how the Walters vs Donaire fight turns out.

Potential to be an action packed night!

This not making the contracted weight-thing is ridiculous and it is cheating and taking advantage of the business aspect of boxing...I still think Floyd-Marquez should have been ruled a no contest..and if Rubio wins so should this fight...

You get a no contest if you smoke weed but you get the win if you don't make the sanctioned and contracted weight hmm...

Did you say the same when Floyd cheated Marquez on the scales too?
