Comments Thread For: Photo: Sergio Martinez Belts Spain's Sports President

The President of the National Sports Council of Spain, Miguel Cardenal, has been presented with a magnificent WBC green and gold belt by former middleweight champion, Sergio 'Maravilla' Martinez, in recognition of his outstanding support for Sports.

'Maravilla' has gifted three replicas of his belt, to: Pope Francis on October 2013, to Argentina's President Cristina Fernandez de Kirchner in October 2012, and now to Miguel Cardenal, praising the steadfast efforts of the Spanish Government. The belt depicts the image of the boxer along with the King, Don Felipe VI. [Click Here To Read More]

I'll never forget watching the 1st Paul Williams match on my second tour in iraq. I'll never forget watching the 2nd one on my birthday in 2010 at my brother's house. I stood up and yelled Holy **** when the end happened.
Great Arreola-Minto brawl for the first one, and Berto's 1st Round KO of Freddy Hernandez for the second one was the last time Berto looked Great AND Won.

It almost hurts now that there will never be a 3rd one.

Paul and Sergio are two true World Champs.

Guys,i don't know who is in line for the vacant WBO but it would be great if they give Sergio the chance with number 1 ranked (Matt Korobov),Sergio victorious and then he can retire in great way but this is only a dream of mine probably,Cotto and Sergio are two of my fav. of this era and their fight broke my heart indeed, also because the bad blood.

did you know that sergio by mistake took chavez belt after their fight, he gave it back later, when he realized he had an extra belt that didn't know where it came from
