  • Comments Thread For: Hearn Aims To Get Froch-Chavez Talks Back on Track

Carl Froch's dream of a Las Vegas date against Julio Cesar Chavez Junior could be inching closer according to reports on ESPN UK and The Daily Mail's website. Froch's promoter Eddie Hearn has told both outlets that talks will begin in earnest this week, whilst warning that Chavez's complicated contractual situation with Top Rank would have to be overcome first.

Chavez has not boxed since March, a 12-round decision win over Brian Vera, but he has been in dispute with Top Rank in recent times. The 28-year-old Mexican has not been in the world title mix since losing the WBC 160lb title to Sergio Gabriel Martinez by unanimous decision in 2012, so a showdown with WBA and IBF 168lb champion Froch could prove enticing for the 48-1-1 (32) former title-holder.

“Legacy.” Really? This is about money & thrills, not legacy. If Froch is concerned with legacy he’d try to set the record straight with Ward.

Carlton froch and edward hearn are both full of ****. They are cherry picking tryin to make this seem like its a big fight. Chavez is 200 lbs and smoking weed. If Chavez was not mexican they wouldn't be interested. Froch was eager to set the record straight with kessler so why not ward? Legacy yh thats bullocks.

That's true. Nothing wrong with Froch going after a big payday as he nears retirement, but don't try to blow smoke up our butts that this is about legacy.

Chavez isn't some legendary fighter that will burnish his resume. The guy barely won one round against Sergio Martinez, arguably lost the first fight to Bryan Vera, and some even feel he got a gift against Zbik.
