  • Comments Thread For: Bob Arum: Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. is Wasting A lot of Time

Top Rank's CEO Bob Arum says former middleweight champion Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. (48-1-1, 32KOs) is "wasting a lot of time" by rejecting potential fight offers and refusing to engage in meaningful fight discussions.

Chavez believes he is a free agent and his contract with Top Rank expired at the end of the September. Arum disagrees with his position, stating that Julio owes his company one more fight and has a year's worth of contract time to fulfill that obligation.

He's not going to fight at 160. This is Chavez making 160.

Fcuk Arum's extension. I know it's "business" but I don't think it's right to low-ball someone unless they sign their life away.

It's Chavez fault he looked that way, he didn't want to train so he had to starve and completely kill himself to make weight. He would have had to do that anyway, but it could have been much easier and better for his body.

JCC Jr should just fight a scrub and honour his last fight.

The $7mil was incentive to re-sign. Chavez could have taken the $3mil with no contract extension. To put it in perspective, Maidana got paid only $1.5mil for a mayweather fight.

Chavez Jr only hurting his own career by turning down these fights. Arum wont let him out of his contract until he fulfills his end of the agreement.
