Comments Thread For: BJ Flores: Fans Not Opening Up Wallets For Mayweather

Cruiserweight contender and NBC Sports expert analyst BJ Flores believes more and more fans are starting to tighten up their wallets when it comes to purchasing Floyd Mayweather's pay-per-view events. While he says Mayweather has certainly earned the right to pick and choose his opponents, the fans are losing interest in watching fights where the action is lacking and Mayweather dominates the majority of the rounds.

There are industry rumors that Mayweather's last few pay-per-view events underperformed and the buyrate numbers being circulated are inflated. The obvious exception is the 2.2 million purchases for last September fight with Saul "Canelo" Alvarez.

He has to step up his oppostion. There's many good options out there (Thurman, Brook, GGG @ 154, Bradley, & the obvious Pacman). I'm more excited about Cotto vs. Canelo.

If true or close to it then in NO way is Floyd going up against Canelo vs Cotto

If Maidana vs Floyd 2 did 700,000 +/-, then you'd figure whomever is paying Floyd's next fight won't want competition cause then they will lose major money. I always thought maidana vs Floyd 2 would do in the 700ks, 800k at most. If it actually did in the 900ks then that wasnt bad.

That's true across the sport based on numbers this year. And it was only last year Mayweather was the A-side of the second biggest PPV ever.

He's still the biggest draw in the sport, and with Pacquiao's decline that's not even a competition anymore.

PPV's have been **** this year.

Ironically, May-Maidana 1 was the best one this far.
