Comments Thread For: Anthony Joshua Eyed KO: I Just Wanted To Hurt Him!

Anthony Joshua claimed the WBC International heavyweight title with a second-round stoppage of Denis Bakhtov at the O2 Arena. The 24-year-old Brit is one of the most exciting prospects in the world of boxing and he enhanced his reputation with an extremely impressive display.

Joshua, who won Olympic gold at London 2012, has now won all nine of his professional fights and none of his opponents have lasted more than three rounds. The experienced Bakhtov was expected to provide a sterner test than Joshua had faced to date but he simply could not cope with the younger man, who was in total control throughout.

I like fighters who know this is the hurt business and try to hurt their opponents

And I like the fact he was smiling in there because he was enjoying his work

And that being said the Russian looked well past it in there and was little more than a moving punching bag but Anthony did what he was supposed to do and got the guy out of there

This was just another target practice for the big British hope. He looks great in there, though, but clearly needs to step up the competition, much like Wilder.

hes got a fight against some dude with 22 losses (had to double check that) for the british HW eliminator.

dudes only got 9 pro fights so i guess its ok for now. hope he doesnt take the wilder route and work his way to 30 fights. hes not a farce yet.

Joshua has to work on his defence. He took some shorts from the opponent last night. A bigger opponent would have done some damage to him. Having said that his speed is fierce. He's as fast as a welterweight and so cant wait to see him fighting someone with a pulse.
