Comments Thread For: Golovkin's Promoter: Rubio is a 'Very Competitive Fight'

Fight fans have to be excited that GGG is back in the ring, but the opponent leaves much to be desired.

IBO/WBA middleweight champion Gennady Golovkin (30-0, 27KOs) is widely expected to make easy work of Marco Antonio Rubio next Saturday, and there's plenty of better fights out there. Unfortunately, Golovkin and K2 Promotions have had a difficult time attracting a deserving challenger. But K2 Promotions managing director Tom Loeffler says it will be a competitive fight.

Rubio didn't even want this fight he wanted the Cotto payday !

Dude gonna get hurt just like Macklin,Geale and all the rest of them.I be shocked if it went six rounds, and astounded if Rubio takes a single round.

It might have some moments of fun exchanges, but Golovkin's going to smash Rubio. Early, too, I think.

Yup! GGG's promoter knows this too.

These boxing promoters think that us fans are naïve.

                Golovkin/ Alvarez, Sept. 2015.
Unless Fraud takes Pac on next year, Canelo will make 'Money's' farewell look like Cotto/ Martinez chump change PPV numbers.

I do like Robert Gatcia with Rubio - good for his mental. Rubio is a solid guy, he takes a minute to warm up and figure out his opponent, and he has underated power even tho he has like 50 ko's. But he is still pretty stationary and thats the formula. GGG better start facing some movers, because hopefully the fans and the networks start making him fight better opposition. Sad when the real fight is the supporting main event.

He's fought movers. Geale was a mover, Adama was a mover.

Unfortunately for Golovkin, there's no mover or any fighter of any kind at MW that would compare with Ward or Froch at 168. That's why I hope these jokesters at MW would line up for Golovkin so he can unify and move on.
