    Canelo-Cotto shouldn't take a tuneup...

I think both guys should scrap the idea of taking a tuneup fight before their anticipated battle! Why? Well, Canelo has a track record of having his planned (big) fights go down the drain due to something always happening.

    Kirkland vs Molina
Williams paralyzed due to bike accident
Victor Ortiz getting his jaw broke by Josesito
    Cotto losing to Trout

I say they go ahead and face each other in May, forget a tuneup fight!

HBO not wanting to go over budget and the negative initla reaction from fans regarding possible cotto/lee and canelo/clottey fights made it easy to see why the December fights for both were scrapped.

Besides, no need to risk messing up a big fight.

I wish they were fighting tomorrow. It is a fight that is very popular and probably won't get any bigger due to a tune up fight. Brook and Khan should also fight as soon as Brook is ready.

Good point. But they don't have to fight in May. They could fight in 60 days and the fight would be huge.

Unless they are fighting in jan or feb I hope cotto has a fight. Long lay offs don't do skills any favors.

The fight would be huge even if they fought a year from now, bro.

Cotto's going to fight in January or February. He's not gonna go into a Canelo fight coming off an 11 month lay off. It's not gonna be against anybody that could jeopardize the Cinco de Mayo Super Fight though.
