Canelo will finish his career with Over/Under 55 wins?

    Vote and discuss.

Canelo's record right now is 44W[31KO]-1L-1D. If you ask Mayweather then Canelo is undefeated, because catchweight fights don't count, .

If Canelo fights twice a year the soonest he'll be able to reach 55 wins is 5 1/2 years from now. But that's IF he wins every single one of those fights.

It was great to hear at the beginning of this year that Canelo was going to fight 3 times, but it looks like Canelo will continue his career on a 2 fight per year pace. I know that HBO would like to have Canelo on regular HBO once a year, but if Canelo fights in May and September each year, where would the third fight fall? If Canelo fights 3 times a year here and there then I like his chances of hitting 55 wins a little more.

Then comes the weight issue. IF Canelo can stay at 154 for at least 2 more years, and then move up to 160 I like his chances to surpass 55 wins in his career. I think Canelo will be at his peak at 160. I don't see Canelo being a force at 168, so I'd consider his career on the down side if he ever gets there.

Here's a few guys that I see in Canelo's future:

Miguel Cotto, Vanes Martirosyan, James Kirkland, Julio Cesar Chavez Jr., Matt Korobov, Tim Bradley, Gennady Golovkin, Victor Ortiz, Ryota Murata, Keith Thurman, Joshua Clottey, Gabriel Rosado, Jermell Charlo, David Lemieux, Marcos Maidana, Demetrius Andrade

Can Canelo get to 55 wins going through some of them?

well above IMO. AT his pace, given the options, I expect him to reach 55 wins before 30.

About there. He will lose to GGG, He will lose to Ward if they ever fight, He will lose to Andrade if they ever fight, He will lose a Lara rematch if it ever happens, and he would lose to Ryota Murata late in his career.

He's going to demand a GGG fight if the past is any indication and that's going to HURT his career I think.

A lot of the guys GGG has been beating don't look great after he cracks their chins...Macklin, Stevens, just wait for Geale
GGG is going to hurt this kid when they fight and I don't think he'll be the same afterwords, so if he does get to 55 he's going to have to have some cans making up that number.

If his team can reign him in and delay that fight for a couple of years then I like his chances a little better, but I honestly don't know if he gets past Cotto either.

I think he beats the lot of them, or at the very least is capable of it. Especially since he's still improving.

He slaughters the welterweights in that pick.

EDIT: Actually Golovkin probably beats him (UD)

Is there a particular reason for this fixation on the #55?

In this day and age, I think getting to 50 wins is almost impossible. I don't think guys like Tim Bradley, Abner Mares, Terence Crawford, Danny Garcia, and Mikey Garcia will even reach 40 wins.

Ryota Murata is 28 years old, Canelo is only 24. I could see that fight happening within the next few years.
