Panamanian boxer Anselmo 'Chemito' Moreno submitted a request last week to the World Boxing Association (WBA), requesting a direct rematch with the current undisputed bantamweight (118 pounds) champion of the entity, Juan Carlos Payano. The champion's manager Henry Rivalta said his boxer willing to take part in a rematch but only if he's properly compensated.
On 26 September at the Mesquite Arena in Mesquite, Texas, Chemito lost the title to Payano by way of a technical decision after the fight was cut short in the sixth round, due to a cut suffered by Payano from a clash of heads in the second. The scores were 59-55, 58-56, 58-56 for Payano.
