Comments Thread For: Clottey: I Need Canelo Fight To Erase Pacquiao Loss!

Yesterday Mexican superstar Canelo Alvarez announce that is December 6th fight was off due to an injury to his ankle. He was scheduled to face Joshua Clottey in Houston on HBO Championship Boxing. The fight was to serve as Canelo's first fight back on HBO. He recently signed a multi year agreement with the network after having his previous five fights televised by Showtime.

BoxingScene.com spoke to a disappointed Clottey earlier today to get his thoughts on the recent turn of events. Clottey hasn't been very active in recent years due to managerial issues and hasn't appeared on HBO since losing to Manny Pacquiao in March, 2010 in a lackluster fight distributed by HBO pay-per-view.

Clottey could beat a Klitchko and the putrid Fart stench from his performance against Fighter of the Decade Pac Man would actually worsen, not be erased. Getting beat down by Canelo certainly wouldn't help.

It's not just the Pacquiao fight. It's also the Margarito fight, where he shelled up and let Margarito overwhelm him. It's also the Cotto fight, where he stepped off the gas late.

He'd probably have shelled up against Alvarez, too. It's what Clottey does.

He's right. Unfortunately for him, Canelo doesn't need the Clottey win to erase the Mayweather loss. He needs the Cotto, and Golovkin wins.

I doubt the injury. Watch for a bigger fight made. Cotto v Canelo...let's go! then winner gets ****ed up by GGG.

Nothing will erase that embaressing moment. Even if Canelo was drained, he gave a piss poor performance and it was disgraceful.

He should've had a Maidana attitude and went out there and imposed his size. He needs a new trainer, obviously.

Nothing he does will ever erase his pitiful performance against Pac.
On the biggest stage of his life when an opportunity was given he flopped.

Worse than flopping he dived, and he admitted it, and Arum boasted giving him a bonus................

Canelo can't run from this though, you can't possibly plan to sell a PPV with your PPV's dwindling you being relegated back to tv fights, and two people in Lara and Clottley claiming your running..............

clottey should go investigate, have a stakeout till he finds canelo participating in a double dutch game or something of the like
