CARL FROCH is edging towards a third fight with Mikkel Kessler on January 31 - and snubbing British rival James DeGale.

The Cobra, 37, is on the brink of agreeing a deal to face Dane Kessler at the O2 Arena rather than defend his world titles against DeGale in what could be his farewell fight.

Froch and Kessler have won one apiece in world super-middleweight title tussles.

The IBF and WBA champion will discuss his options with promoter Eddie Hearn on Tuesday but does not feel he could get motivated for a fight with DeGale, 28.

To be honest, this is the twilight of Froch's career now, and he deserves the paydays and the fights he wants.

I think Kessler 3 would bring more money, and it's a fight he clearly wants, and i'm sure we'd all be tuning in to another great fight between these two

I can see Degale stinking up the joint, not a great swan song fight in my opinion..

Froch should fight Kessler,, he just fought a young gun in groves, so let froch get paid vs Kessler, as this is probably one of the last times to make this fight as both careers are winding down.. Degale will always be there in the future, and win or lose, in that even if froch lost to Kessler, degale-froch would still be big domestically as froch would still be the best fighter degale has fought..

I'm in 2 minds about this fight. On one hand, DeGale has been knocking on the door of a world title for ages, and I think he deserves his shot (even though his opposition en route hasn't been anything to shout about). However, he's an annoying prick and I'd like nothing more than for him to be snubbed on the Froch payday. Smell ya later!

But then, Kessler has done fook-all to warrant another big fight. Hell, he's done fook-all since 2010. But then, it is 1-1 in the Froch-Kessler rivalry, which seems to have gone down in SMW legend. If the trilogy has to be done so as to round out both fighters' careers, I'm OK with it. At least it's guaranteed to be another war.

I think if he is winning then he will keep active..

I can see him beating Kessler and then a Hopkins/Chavez jr,, of he can win those fights, which is well within reason, I can see him fighting on, but only in really big fights like ward or ggg, maybe degale.. But yeah if he loses I can see him hanging them up in a fight or 2
