Comments Thread For: Andy Lee To Benefit From Middleweight Title Reshuffle

The addition of Billy Joe Saunders against Chris Eubank Junior to Frank Warren's November 29th bill at London's ExCel Arena is good news for Ireland's Andy Lee. BoxingScene can confirm that the 33-2 (23) southpaw will now meet Matt Korobov for the vacant WBO middleweight title, potential December venue and date TBA.

Korobov, 24-0 (14), is the number one ranked contender, Saunders is next in line with Lee rated fourth by the governing body. Eubank Junior sits at number nine in their latest rankings.

    Korobov-Lee isn't a bad matchup.

Lee has one-punch power so he's a live underdog.

Korobov isn't that good tbh. He has a good amateur resume but as a pro he's been only slightly above average.

Huh, he was getting Golovkin-like hype around here in 2009. Kinda annoying back then.

He's been ranked in their top 5 for the last few months, which raises its own questions but that's the WBO's explanation I guess.

The only guy they've jumped him over is Charlo, and he's managed by the guy who just paid their champion to vacate so there's that.

Boxing forums are a strange place. korobov was getting hyped on forums but it was based on nothing. He's beat no one and doesn't even look good doing it. Even in losses I think Lee is more accomplished.
