Comments Thread For: Rances Barthelemy Dominates Saucedo, Retains Title

Foxwoods Resort, Mashantucket, Connecticut - In his first defense of the world title, Rances Barthelemy (21-0, 12KOs) easily dominated Fernando David Saucedo (52-6-3, 8KOs) over twelve rounds to retain the IBF super featherweight title. All three judges scored it 120-108.

Rances controlled the pace of the fight, picking his shots and getting very little in return from Saucedo. There wasn't much action, or drama, as Saucedo was never able to change the tempo. Rances unloaded in the fifth, getting Saucedo in trouble during the final ten seconds.

Rancid is straight as a board, doesn't move his head at all, and drops his hands. Too many flaws to hold the title too long.

You would think this would compel barthelemy to go for the kill, but he was happy just getting the win. I wonder how many fans stayed in their seats for all 12 rounds. I switched to BEIn sports by round 5.

Saucedo was never more than a clubfighter and this was always a cupcake "title" defense against a stiff who couldn't win a round against any top 30 fighter. Only slightly surprising thing was that Barthelemy couldn't get him out of there.

Barthelemy is good but still has a lot of questions to be answered. I think Mikey beats him, IF he fights him.
