LOS ANGELES - Frankie "Pitbull" Gomez, the pride of East Los Angeles and exciting future prospect, renewed his promotional contract today with Oscar De La Hoya's Golden Boy Promotions, the leading boxing promoter based in Los Angeles, California.

By now I would have thought Gomez and Benavidez would be on a collision course.

Both seemed to have disappointed so far.

Benavidez has disappointed me a lot more. Gomez had some run ins with the law and was inactive for a while, but he seems to be back on the right track. He's been stepping up his competition and he's looked pretty good so far.

Benavidez on the other hand keeps on getting injured every time he fights and seems to either have stamina issues or a bad chin. Either way, I haven't been to impressed with him

I don't know man. I am looking these photos taken earlier today when he just re-signed with Golden Boy and uh...well.......he is looking quite chunky.

It's no wonder why his career isn't going along as fast as it could. Dude is crazy good, could be a marquee name in this sport.

And look how fat he is. Unlike a lot of fighters, he has tons of natural talent, I hope he starts to take this sport seriously, I really want to see what he can become.

I'm happy for Frankie and Golden Boy, I hope that they continue working together for a long time and that Frankie is able to stay focused and live up to his potential. I also hope to one day see Gomez vs Benavidez Jr while they are both still undefeated.
