O damn well that goes that. Maybe it's not to smart for Mauricio to fight in Russia. I would just stay here in the states seems like de la hoya has some good plans for him

Benavidez has been feasting on 16-12 and 15-7 record fighters. He needs to step up to something live before facing Herrera but it sounds like Herrera is negotiating for the Prov rematch. Benavidez did the stanky dance against a club fighter a couple fights back. I expect Benavidez to fight the "always ready", "comes to fight", "on a one win streak", TBA or some other superlatives to describe a hapless, hopeless, setup.

No way. Benevidaz isn't even close to ready for that. Herrera vs Soto on Canelo-Clottey sounds good to me. Next year, I'd like to see El Maestro-La Maquina for the JWW title when DSG inevitably moves up.

here's the guy i've been waiting for, forgot he existed for awhile there

someone mentioned thurman, i think benavidez has a better shot at being an atg, fast, powerful boxer, tall enough to dominate alot of classes

Herrera doesn't deserve to be used as a stepping stone for prospects, at least not yet. He's still a viable 140lb contender and should be matched against notable opposition. Benavidez hasn't even fought an experienced journeyman yet.

I know benavidez needs to step up but this is a real risky fight. I thought the fight with do to was finalized

Benavidez has all of the ingredients for greatness. His hands are his only draw back, but that was true of both Floyd and Oscar and both those guys overcame that to become massive stars. Herrera would be a huge step up for him, but he can't be babied forever. Plus, he has all the tools to beat him.

If the fight happens, I think he'll surprise a lot of people.

Glad benevidaz is getting a big fight, but Herrera might be alittle too steep of a step up for benevidaz

                      Interesting fight
