Comments Thread For: Caullum Smith: Paul Should Be The World Champion

After witnessing one of his siblings challenge for a World title in Germany last weekend, Callum Smith is eyeing some massive fights for himself over the next 12 months ahead of his eight-round clash on Saturday night against Rafael Sosa Pintos at the First Direct Arena, Leeds live on Sky Sports in association with Grosvenor Casinos.

The Super Middleweight sensation is already on the lips of many in boxing after just 13 fights into his career. Callum is expecting to follow in eldest brother Paul’s footsteps by challenging for World honours after the 31 year old produced a career best performance in defeat to WBO 168lb champion, Arthur Abraham.

I think some are getting a little carried away. The WBO and people are angered because of the WIDE scoring. Smith fought well and deserves huge props but imo he didn't do enough to get the W.

Noticed Callum Smith Vs Sjekola is on the Bellew Vs Cleverly undercard. I'm looking forward to seeing how Smith looks in that fight.

I'd have to disagree. I had the fight 7-5 for Smith. Abraham just wasn't busy enough. Yes, there is a difference in power but Abraham only fought in spots. While he did land some good shots throughout, I thought Smith out hustled him most of the time and was never in real trouble. It wouldn't have mattered if Smith won all the rounds clearly though, since the fight was in Germany. I think the point is, even if you think Smith lost, the score cards reflect either a considerable incompetence on the judges' behalf and/or obvious corruption. Germany has become infamous for horribly bias and suspect scoring. Pro fights should be banned there if this is what they're going to do every time.

What did Abraham do to get the W then? . . . Sure you could swing that fight either way, but tighter score cards.
