I agree with the replies, Wlad wouldn't have such an easy time.

Vitali would be better off than Wlad.

On the positive side both would likely have grown to be MUCH better fighters than they ever grew to be. That era may not have had the best Heavyweight, but damn it was THICK with super solid B to B+ level guys.

They would have been top 3 guys, especially vitali.. Wlad would have had a lot of trouble with guys like rudduck, mercer, Golata.. I think vitali is much tougher and would have been ranked alongside bowe, Holyfield, Lennox..

Vitali beats everyone except Tyson in my opinion, though I do suppose if we take injuries into account, I think Holyfield might have had a shot at wearing him down with his dirty tactics. And I agree, I would have paid for a Vitali - Foreman ppv in a second.

I think a focused wlad would have got past a younger mercer,,Ruddock and golota with little trouble but guys like holyfield and lewis would have been a problem and possibly bowe

Wlad as we've seen him the last 7 years or so would be a tough out. He's a handful in any era in this form. The problem for him in that era would have been getting the chance to develop. Losses to guys the level of Purrity, Sanders, and Brewster in his first eight years would have seen him discarded. Too much depth.

Vitali is a wild card. Tough. Big punch. He'd have been a factor. He couldn't beat a Lewis on his worst day and the young Lewis had speed the older one didn't. Vitali and Holyfield would have been a fascinating war. Holyfield had the speed and volume to get inside and touch him. They would have beat on each other pretty fun.

I think vitali would hang with Lewis Holyfield and bowe, wlad I think would be a step below with guys like mercer, ruddock, Golata.. Wlad probably beats those guys but I also see him losing once or twice to that caliber fighter.. I don't think he ever beats one of the big dogs..

Wlad would be a handful and would be a highly ranked contender in any era but the 90s are extremely deep.. Could he go thru berbick, pinklon, bonecrusher, tubbs like Tyson did, yeah I'm pretty sure he could, but I don't think he could handle guys like Lewis, Holyfield, bowe... It wouldn't shock me if guys like McCall or Bruno caught wlad and stopped him...

Vitali is much better suited to handle the guys of the 90s and he would be on the elite level alongside evander and Lewis...

Wlad beat Mercer in 2002. Could he have beaten a Mercer circa 1992?

                    Depends which mercer shows up..

The mercer that fought Morrison, evander, Lennox would overwhelm young wlad and stop him due to fatigue and chin shots.. Older wlad would have to clinch and make it unbearable to watch similar to the Sasha fight..

If it's the mercer that fought fergueson or Holmes, then young or old wlad would beat him with ease..

I think Wlad is the type of guy who gets better with each rise in tier of competition. While he still dominates who's put in front of him in this era, I think better fighters would bring the best out of him as well.

I know I'm in the minority, but I'd say Vitali would have very consistent good performances, and Wlad would have much higher highs and lower lows.
