What if ali wasn't successful in fighting the US government and got shipped off to war?? How do you think that would have changed the face of boxing, keep in mind some of the best fights in history involved ALI..

Foreman would have a longer run ...frazier would have also been peek longer ...Ken Norton would be Ken Norton just thought of as a even better fighter then he is now ..Holmes may have never been as good without the sparring with Ali ....and so on it would change a lot of history plus all the people that box today because of Ali

this is a good topic.. but I honestly think that Tyson resurrected boxing after Ali retired.

If I remember correctly, if he were to join he wasn't going to be on fighting grounds.

Pretty sure they were just going to have him doing what Louis did back in WW II, which is just tour around and do USO shows for troop morale.

he would not have fought in the war
he would have given a few exhibitions,
kept his title (because no way they would have stripped him),
                stay in better shape,
maybe beat frazier, maybe not (but for sure the fight would have been earlier)
and in that case he would have been the one meeting foreman,
maybe he would have been taking him lightly and lose or maybe he would have thought of the rope-a-dope anyway.
in this latter case: he would have probably beaten joe louis' record for defenses and/or marciano unbeaten streak.

yes but WW2 was different and Ali coulda died he woulda been a prime target for snipers and boxing will not have been the same, cause as u know, usually in boxing when the heavyweights are watchable and exciting the lower weights feed off that which makes a great era, we have very good divsions at lower classes but without a Ali or Tyson they dont get attention, unless theres a SRL or DLH type character at a lower class
