as if he knew his body/knees were finished and still took the fight just to get one last big check? even tho he ruined his image and dissapointed a lot of fans?

Yes. Sergio is the first hyped favorite in history with a win over the amazing HOF Chavez Jr. and Pavlik, to lose to a realistically better "underdog."
Cotto "cashed out" on Sergio's temple.

I like Sergio, but that was a money grab.
He's been done since he tore his knee in the 12th round against Chavez. Looked terrible in his return, required more knee surgeries, wasn't allowed to spar because of the knee yet it's alright to fight for real with it? He knew he was done and added a nice amount to his bank account...fair enough.

I'm sure he went into the Cotto fight believing he would win and believing he was okay, but he was likely thinking Cotto was the end if he won. He's probably only being stubborn now because he doesn't want to go out that way.

Sergio took the biggest fight that he could get. You can't second guess any fighter for doing that, whether it is in his prime or his final days. The fact that Martinez has said he will fight again indicates that it wasn't a "cash out". Of course we all know that if Sergio was at his best Cotto would have never come knocking on his door anyway.
