I say this genuinely without any hate towards FMJ, but the sport isn't all about 1 guy (or even 2 if you include Pac) - I watch 100+ fights a year and enjoy many of them far more than the occasional PPV involving the big stars.

If (and I say this guardedly).. if .. PPV has made one fighter more significant than the rest of the sport, it's the biggest argument against PPV and Boxing 'Mega- Stars' that there could be.

Simple fact is if that boxing collapses in the US when Floyd retires it'll continue to perform as strongly as ever round the globe ... for the sake of US fans I genuinely hope your statement isn't accurate.

Agree, but I'm not sure Mayweather retires.

I think he finishes his Showtime contract, and then comes back once a year against a cherry-picked opponent who doesn't have the style to be competitive.

Just look at the comments before B-Hop-Pavlik. Most of the poeple was dead sure about B-Hop will get KTFO and look what happened. I know, now comes the "Kovalev is ain't no Pavlik", "Kovalev hits bigger than Pavlik", "Hopkins is older" and "Kovalev is more skillfull than Pavlik, it's silly to compare them".
But you know what? I'm sure that before the Hopkins - Pavlik fight there were comments like "Pavlik ain't no Trinidad", "Pavlik hits harder than Trinidad", "Hopkins is older", Pavlik is a more well rounded fighter and also a different beast than Trinidad it's silly to compare him to Trinidad, this will be too much for Hopkins".

No offense here, I can accept if yomeone thinksthat Jovalev will win this I just remind everyone what happened last time in a kinda similar situation and what were the usual predictions and arguements and how it ended up. Don't be surprised if it will beend up the same. I won't.
