Comments Thread For: Miura-Puerta, Gonzalez-TBA Double Set, 11/22 In Tokyo

The opportunity comes two weeks later than initially expected, but Edgar Puerta is set for his 130 lb. title challenge as he faces defending champ Takashi Miura. The bout will take place on November 22 in Tokyo, pushed back from its originally targeted date of November 8.

Promociones del Pueblo, Puerta’s promoter, confirmed the date change and finalization of terms Tuesday morning, insisting that “Edgar is ready for this title fight, and will come home a world champion.”

The bout was initially ordered over the summer, as Puerta is the mandatory challenger to the title Miura has held his last April. A deal was believed to have been reached in August, but the delay in firming up all details was due to finding the appropriate venue and accommodating Japan TV rights, airing live on WOWOW-TV in Japan. That's 3 straight mandos for Miura then there's Estrella if he wins and I think Yeyo was calling for a rematch WBC really wants that belt to be held by a Mexican.

I guess that nixes a Uchi fight I was wondering who they were going to put on this card w/Roman.

Yeyo was the only one that was ordered though yea?
He's just taking out high level mandos instead of those soft defenses

I think if the WBC really wanted a Mexican to hold that belt, I think they would send, you know, a good one...

High Level? His best win is Thompson.

High postiion work for you? Or would you like a #15 defense?

I think those rankings are crap to begin with, like Puerta being rated #1 by the WBC. I already think Miura's Diaz, Thompson, and Jardon run is extremely overrated. Two of those are basically lower-level journeymen and one is a local mexican show undercard fighter.
Miura (and the WBC) seem intent on him fighting a Mexican, so give him Salido, Vargas, Burgos, or Garcia. A lot better than the Jardons and Puertas of the world.

                  It was tongue n cheek

For the most part they're not really that good Yeyo isn't too bad , Estrella might be the best of the bunch in time.

Salido would be great and a actual possibility unlike the others.

Yeyo's the only good one. What I wanted to say was high position.

Honestly, I don't care about any of them. He should be unifying with Uchiyama... but I don't know the gym/t.v deal problems, if there are any
