Sometimes having that much of a height advantage can help but it often doesn't when you have to make weight. There was a fighter in the 1980's named Alvin Hayes that was 6'2 and fought at lightweight. He appeared very good coming up until he was leveled by the Kronk's Jimmy Paul.
