Comments Thread For: Abraham Targets Sturm-Stieglitz Winner, Not Smith

WBO super middleweight champion Arthur Abraham (41-4, 28KOs) is not interested in a rematch with Paul Smith of the UK. Abraham retained his title by winning a twelve round unanimous decision over Smith on Saturday night before 6,000 spectators in Kiel, Germany.

Smith demanded a rematch afterwards, furious over the scoring of the contest - 117-110, 117-110 and 119-109. Fans were upset as well, as most saw the contest as being close, although many are not dis*****g that Abraham had done enough to get a win.

Smith was robbed he won this fight by two rounds possibly more, this is what makes our sport unbearable at times and to the knockers indefensible.Germany should be ashamed of itself! To have such inept judges on the main stage is inexcusable. This, make no bones about it was a very hard fought close fight and for one judge to give Smith only one round simply saddens me.Smith today should be celebrating as world champion, instead he can only reflect on the injustice and cheating that occurred.........shocking!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Paul Smith clearly won last night. Anyone who says he didn't doesn't know **** about boxing.

My country isn't great when it comes to fair scoring, but Germany is a disgrace!!!

Abraham should really acknowledge Smith as a quality opponent because he really showed he was last night. That result was disgusting and it would be a shame if Abraham just took it and walked away without having it on his mind as something that needs to be set right.

A rematch somewhere more neutral would be great for that. Some guys here saying Arthur should go to Liverpool for a rematch but I don't think he should, somewhere in the US maybe.

If I was Abraham right now I would be thinking that thousands of fans would know I got an absolutely inexcusable gift against a guy that seriously threatened to beat me, I would want to set it right...But who knows, maybe he is looking for bigger and better at this stage of his career and that is fair enough too.

119-109? No. The right man won? Without a question.
Abraham should challenge someone else not just wait for these domestic matchups... Why doesn't he fight with Dirrell again or against the other Dirrell or maybe Groves... I'm tired of Abraham-Stieglitz fight... -.- But a Sturm-Abrham also wouldn't be that great...

Abraham is fighting domestic-type matchups because he makes good money defending his secondary alphabet belt fighting in Germany and avoiding the division's top fighters. He's no more a "world champion" than Braehmer or Soliman or Rubio or Quillin is.

Exaggeration. I had it a draw and felt it could have been a round either way.

The margins on the scorecards were the problem

Sturm v AA sells huge in Germany, so why not? I'm guessing both those guys are looking for a big way to retire and the money this generates would be enough. is it the best fight for AAs legacy? No. He should be getting in the ring with the upper echelon at 168.
