Comments Thread For: Paul Smith, Eddie Hearn Call Abraham Scores 'Disgusting'

Paul Smith produced the performance of his life only to be denied by a hugely controversial points defeat to Arthur Abraham in their WBO super-middleweight title fight in Kiel.

The 31-year-old from Liverpool shocked his opponent with a display of real guts and no little class, but got no reward from the judges.

Abraham was given an unanimous points victory, the scores 117-111, 117-111, 119-109, but those scores in no way reflected how tight the fight was.

Sad, people want to dis Andre Ward, but at least when he fights he is fighting live dogs - fighters you have heard of. Arthur Abraham / Steiglietz / Groves / Felix Sturm / Marco Huck / Kevin Price / and there are more - I just don't know their names - but from the ones I mentioned, its sad that 1 or 2 of them will be in the HOF - and even hardcore boxing fans such as myself can only go off biased reviews and press clippings. Arthur Abraham, was good, but fell off a steep cliff, dude struggles against club fighters now..

Of the dudes you mentioned, Huck is the only one who might make a unification run to build some sort of case and it's unlikely. Huck though fights pretty good opposition. If you haven't heard of them, you're not paying much attention.

None of the rest will sniff the Hall of Fame. Not even a little.

It was a fight with many close rounds and the judges gave those close rounds pretty much all to Abraham....in his home country....

              What did they expect?

I didn't think smith would get the decision to be honest, but the scorecard was just terrible.

This nonsense NEEDS to Stop, its every week now we see scorecards like the ones we saw in this fight and its unexceptable! Im not huge on Paul Smith but he's a man who's toiled away building his legacy and respect in this game, working on his craft since 2003, he's had his up's and downs but given his one chance at world glory he trained his ass off, got himself mentally strong and went to the Lion's den to take on a monster puncher in Abraham. He took the best AA had to offer surprisingly without too much fuss, he ****** up whatever came at him, this was his night. He out jabbed, out maneuvered and out fought the Armainian Champion, working the body brilliantly along the way. PAUL SMITH WON THIS FIGHT. To take it from him was wrong but to downplay the war he waged with insulting scores of 10 point margins is a down right disgrace! I hope those judges never work a fight again, they should actually be ARRESTED! That wasn't incompetence (which is bad enough) but it was CORRUPTION! A lot of people will have lost money on that fight and Smigga lost his one shot at world glory through no fault of his own.
