Danny Williams to get title shot against Valuev

Commonwealth heavyweight champion Danny Williams heads to Glasgow to replace Scott Harrison on the March 25 show at the Braehead Arena. Harrison, the WBO featherweight titlist, was ruled out of his defence against Joan Guzman yesterday by doctors following a gum infection after a wisdom tooth was removed. Instead, Williams will defend his title in Scotland against a challenger to be confirmed. The Brixton puncher has cleaned up the domestic heavyweight scene with recent victories over British champion Matt Skelton and Olympian Audley Harrison and is now gunning for a second world title opportunity against the WBA champion Nicolay Valuev. "I don't care who is put in front of me on the 25th March but I will knock them clean out because no one is getting in the way of my second world title shot," said Williams

Wow, this fight would actually be for a world title... that's the sad part. Valuev nor Williams is worthy of a world title, but in the weakest division in boxing, anything can happen. I look forward to Valuev losing his title, and even though Williams isn't that good, he could be the guy to do it. If that happens, Williams will hold the title for a few months if he fights anybody deserving of a title shot. Guys like Owen Beck shouldn't be getting shots, and the only glimmer of hope for the division is unification. Don King won't allow it, though. If he does, I'll be shocked. This division is pathetic...

Well he came in at a slighly lower weight last time out, and has given up the cakes, so maybe he can improve more.

Someone's going to have to stop Valuev because he's getting more and more hyped. Sure...I don't see why Williams can't be the one to do it. His heart is huge and he can crack....just about all I think you need to beat him.
