That was a thing of beauty. I know it wasn't fan friendly, but for fans of the science it can't get much better than that. Lara won that fight, and Lara can do what Canelo couldn't...beat Mayweather!

But Clottey's performance against Pac was so bad that it was unforgivable. He fought Cotto pretty good I'll give him that.

But he hasn't fought anyone notable since Pac, so how did he earn a shot against Canelo?

        1. Clottey doesnt deserve a fight with Canelo.
        2. Clottey VS Canelo is 50/50.
        3. Clottey Beat da **** outta Cotto but let Cotto steal the last rounds.
        4. Clottey is one of the most underrated fighters, His defense, power, combinations is a problem for anybody...If Clottey could keep up the same aggression in the last 2 rounds he would be an Elite Fighter Top 10 P4P.

That being said I think Canelo wins a close hard fight

Of course that's what people will remember him for.

After watching that fight, what casual fans or new boxing fans would be eager to go back and watch any of his previous fights?
i have very little to add. clotteys such a nice guy.
he Is one of the boringest fighters still boxing.

                War Clottey!
This dude has an impenetrable defence. His offense is also very dangerous if he commits more & presses the action. If he ever learned to mesh the two together, he would had been huge.. Instead it's just one or the other.

I mean, Prime Pacquiao could hardly get past that defence; and do you really think Clottey wanted to shell-up the whole fight? The second he tries to press any action he would had gotten boiled by Pacquiao. He didn't want to suffer what Cotto suffered months earlier. The thing is he was still able to damage Pacquiao a bit with counters every once in awhile.

Yup The Cotto, Margareto and Manny fights should have been very memorable. Instead I don't ever watch or even think about it. All I remember is his turtle shell defense. boring!

He lost his chance by not staying a little bit more in the pocket, he land the one-two and even the third one on occasion and move to the other side of the ring, Lara was faster and more accurate but follow the plan too much, that is what he prove, he follow the game plan to a fault...
