This move by the main organisations is definitely a move in the right direction.

Yes. If the WBO doesn't want to participate in unification then their belt will become even more second rate than it already is.

What I also don't understand is the WBO has the closest relatinoship with TR and Arum and they have the most TR champions. Isn't it Arum's best interest that he could match his small stable of fighters/champions against other fighters/champions? I surprised that he doesn't lobby for this idea which is alos great for the sport IMO.
Seems like you smelling the coffee a little bit.. WBO biggest supplier of fighters is top rank. Whatever top rank wishes are, the WBO is supporting it. Bob Arum and Too Rank want to keep all their money in house, WBO does not want to mess that plan up.

This shows why Arum is a big roadblock in boxing for fights we want to see too.

The problem isn't the scoring system per se, it's ensuring that it's implemented fairly.

A tournament platform between the three title holders would add some much needed legitimacy to the 'world champion' claimants and strengthen the three major organisation's positions.

Let's face it, nobody's packing up their stall and going home. This could be a viable way of dealing with the alphabeti spaghetti organisations and the frankly ludicrous amount of boxers claiming to be world champions.

Firstly they'd have to figure out how to fairly structure a tournament involving an odd number of participants, then. . . . . .

. . . Uncle Haymon can put the kibosh on the whole thing by 'advising' his fighters not to fight.

I would say scoring a round that a guy edges and a round that a guy damn near beats a guy to death the same is a pretty ****** way to score fights in a way that the general public will understand.
