Alvarez must be jumping ship to avoid all of Haymon's upcoming slick fighters like Jermel Charlo, Julius Williams, Dominic Wade, Tony Harrison, and Errol Spence. He had enough of squeeking by with Trout & Lara.
Seriously though, way more money and fame to be had on HBO. Even though Alvarez isn't a Haymon fighter, on Showtime everything around him would be controlled by Haymon.
