but in terms of being a head trainer, i wouldn't think he is the best guy because he relied on athleticism and didnt master the fundamentals.....

Sorry to hear that about Roger. I noticed I rarely saw him in All Access. I guess this is shouldn't be risky, but we can't simply assume that a HOF fighter can also train others. Sometimes the most talented athletes don't turn out to be good coaches.

He mastered plenty of fundamentals, he just used them in an unconventional package. Just listen to him on HBO, the man knows the fundamentals of boxing.

He was p4p king for a decade, you don't accomplish that through athleticism. You need to have more than that.

I want to see the look on Vargas face when Jones tells him to just quadruple up on the left hook. I have no doubt of Jones knowledge on the fundamentals. I'm just curious as to whether he understands the physical limitations of most fighters.

Then again his prime was before the Pacquiao era so you probably didn't even know what boxing was back then.
