10 facts every boxing fan should know

    1. Amir Khan is not a credible or worthy challenger to Floyd Mayweather in the ring. He does not have a welterweight title, he does not have a victory over a credible welterweight, and to be clear, he has STRUGGLED in his last 5 trips to the ring He calls out Devon, and Robert G, but he DOES NOT WANT THOSE FIGHTS. HE IS GOING TO FIGHT THE SMALLEST THREAT HE CAN FIND. Amir used to be the guy that wanted to fight everyone, the guy who had no fear of losing. The guy that was willing to go to Lamont Peterson's hometown, etc. That guy is gone boxing fans, now, Amir hardly fights, barely. You know why, he is AFRAID to lose, even to a lower level fighter. Amir is keeping himself on the sideline to ensure he does not lose before Mayweather comes calling.

Its pathetic, its weak, and it is being encouraged by the boxing media.

The continue to publish everything this guys says, when in reality, he is not even a top 35 fighter right now in the ring.

    2. Amir does have one feather in his cap, he is worth money. I don't how, or when he amassed this little fortune, but as it stands now. Amir is one of the richest fighters in the sport. Amazing but true. Lets look at what the top fighters are worth.

When I say that, I mean what they own mine what they owe, thats the true picture of wealth.

-Vlad is worth only $30 million!!!!!!! All those PPVs, all those title defenses, consecutive title defenses, one of the most decorated heavyweight champions we have ever seen, and he has no money!!!! His brother is worth $65 million. Amir khan, who is a pretender to the max, is worth $30 million!!!! So a fighter that never fights, and is nowhere NEAR Vlad's level, is worth as much maybe even more.

Vlad's style, his insistence on fighting on Germany where Drug testing is not an issue, and german boxing fan fatigue has destroyed his earning power

-Miguel Cotto is worth $15 million!!! Thats it!!! One thing I noticed is that Bob Arum fighters have NO MONEY. NONE. Miguel has participated in like 15 sellouts(tacit number) at MSG, HUGE fights in vegas, Miguel has made upwards of $80 to $100 million during his career, but because of the %30 percent that Arum wants, and the fact that he is ovb very ****** with his money, Cotto is currently 20% of what he could be.

oh by the way, his trainer, Freddie Roach, is worth $20 million as right now. MORE THEN MIGUEL.

-Manny is ONLY worth $100 million! Thats it. He has earned upwards of $300 million, along with countless endorsements and ancillary payouts, and this guy is only worth $100 million.

See thats what makes his chatter about Mayweather so funny. Nevermind the tax issues, lets look at facts. Manny takes so many loans from Arum, so many advances, that over time he stopped earning what he should be. The ********, the entourage, giving away his money in some cases. Manny at this rate, will be broke by the time he is 40. The only thing that is keeping his head above water is this new fight contract.

He has slowly lost his commercial appeal with the tax issues and so forth so the bigger companies are no longer interested in having him pitch. I had a marketing director I went to school with cite Manny's waning appeal in the United States as the main reason he is having issues securing big time endorsements.

Bob can say what he wants. The truth is, he has done enormous damage to Manny's earning potential. Bob forced Manny to only deal with Top Rank fighters for so long, and so many different times, that the PPV market is over it, and the numbers reflect that notion.

His PPV numbers are terrible. Rios and bradley, and CA is only going to be worse.

    3. Now to put that all in perspective, Floyd according to Forbes is now worth $420 million, and counting! He is the greatest earner in the history of the sport. He makes more money then Tiger Woods or Robert Downey Jr. At the conclusion of his contract he could have more money then Jay-Z! Arum is worth $200 million, so is Oscar. So when all these fighters talk about Mayweather, and wanting to fight him, and calling him soft, and old, you have to understand, they want the payday. Thats what their after. Manny's brand has suffered, big time, after taxes and Arum he is pulling down 8-9 million a fight, so of course he is getting all bold with it now.

I wonder what Manny would do for a $40 million dollar pay day right now?

Floyd meanwhile is his own promoter, for PPV, closed circuit, endorsements, Floyd sees streams of revenue that most fighters cannot comprehend.

So the next time a Danny Garcia($1 million) calls out Floyd, think about why.

Floyd is the richest man in boxing including the promoters, thats crazy right? Not only is he at the top of the mountain, he is 300 miles above everyone else. Much of what you read is jealousy. The fight game the other night, looked like a bunch of men salty that another man was earning money.

Floyd is no saint, and actually quite a brute, but he is the smartest and richest man in a sport predicated upon marketing and performance.

    4. Adrien Broner is a pathetic hype job. Prince Naseem Hamed with a different hat. He is defensively inept, he is careless during exchanges, he is over the top flamboyant, and he is technically under developed. He most likely has never had the type of training or instruction needed. He also has yes men in his camp, NOONE telling him the truth.

He is only worth $3 million, after all the titles, rap albums, and boasting, this guy is an average earner. Maidana made his net worth in one year.

    5. Bob Arum threw a hissy fit during the buildup to bradley/manny because he felt that Floyd was fighting a BS fight, and that the boxing public should boycott it.

"The only people that can make Floyd Mayweather fight Manny is the public, if they boycott the nonsense on May 3," Arum yelled at the post-fight press conference, as reported by Yahoo Sports. Arum was referring to Mayweather’s scheduled bout against slugger Marcos Maidana, who is a heavy underdog. "That's what the public should do. [If the media] wants that fight, tell the public not to buy pay-per-view and not to buy tickets. There is no other [strategy]. We are prepared tomorrow to sit down at a table with [Mayweather’s] people…to work out the conditions for the fight."

Bob then went on a tirade against the MGM grand, and its partners.

Then he makes Pacman/CA 4 months later???

If that does not show you Bob is full of sh/t, nothing will.

    6. Juan Manuel Marquez has been given a pass by HBO. The media as well. I have never seen a fighter become quicker, bigger, and stronger at his age. I also have never seen an athlete be this brazen about his cheating.

He fought with Tim Bradley for months over simple drug testing, he REFUSED to allow HBO to show the part of face-off where he was questioned about PEDS, he refused to partake in blood testing for MA, and he also had serious scene on his chest! His chest!!!! The MA fight was horrifying.

Yet everyone wants to sing his praises, and talk about what a wonderful Mexican warrior he is. Thats BS. He cheated. We all know it. Thats the reason he asked for $20 million to fight Manny again, which is absurd.

He asked for that because he knew it was a deal breaker, the real issue is Manny's magical new PED concern,

A concern that he did not have for 3 years when he was making up excuses why he didn't want to fight Floyd.

Funny right, it took Manny experiencing a fighter on the juice to push for testing. He went from the resistance to an advocate in one night

    7. GGG is the new Mike Tyson. I don't mean that in a nice way. He is being glorified by a network starving for a new star. I like him. HIs style, his power, his demeanor, everything. Good guy. I just am not drinking the koolaid. He is not a draw. I was at MSG for 2 of his fights, he did well in the theatre because thats a much smaller venue, but the big room was a disaster. That was an indictment. The public loves knockouts, but they love it more when you are actually beating somebody. GGG has not fought a true threat, he has fought a bunch of guys that looks they belong in Rocky 3.

Not to all his fault, but Rubio? Geale? Stevens? That Asian guy who snuffed Kirkland? i am sorry, I cannot place him on the PFP list off of that. I cannot even justify s big time fight for him off of that.

He is worth $5 million, so his star is rising, but he is going to have to stop hiding in that middleweight division, and make some fights with some guys that can hit back.

I think the Rubio card is a good step, its tracking well on Stub-hub but it remains to be seen if the butts will be in the seats, I also think the awesome Walter/Nonito clash is aiding ticket sales.

    8. B-HOP is out of his mind for taking on the SK, Shades of Drago/Creed. SK will stop Hopkins, with a body shot.

    9. Nonito Donaire deserves our admiration and respect. From the drug testing to his fighting the best constantly, that guys is a fighter we can be proud off. He might not be the "flash" anymore, but he has a long career in front of him, and he is going to win a bunch of titles before its over, the right way, the clean way.

    10. Floyd is going to take May off, and come back in September for Manny. He will seek 70/30 across the board. They will stage the fight in Vegas, it will be a god send for boxing. It will help us all remember why we love the sport.

Who will win? I don't know. The odds will open in favor of Mayweather, and continue to grow as his size and speed advantages are examined, BUT, if anyone can land that punch, the punch to take down Floyd, it is Manny.

Thats what I would cal a punchers chance.

Correction, Cotto is worth 13 million because of that lawsuit his uncle cleaned him with.

Haha Wlad only has $30m and you say he has no money? or Broner only has $3m..

All this coming from a guy has too much spare time on his hands to write so much nonsense. Probably sat in your mothers basement in your cum stained boxer shorts. So how much you got?

Also, Broner isn't fit to lace the gloves of Naseem Hamed. P4P, Hamed would have KO'd Broner in less than 4 rounds. He's not mobile enough, no footwork and easy to hit. Hamed could hit incredibly hard with either hand when his hands weren't shot to pieces. Broner would be doing the stanky leg all over the arena once Hamed landed a few on him. You are underrating Hamed a lot. It would take a fighter as clever and skilled as Barrera to beat him and even then Hamed was quite faded with no desire compared to a couple of years before. I'm not saying he's an ATG, but he would have been too much for Broner p4p.

I agree with you mostly about Khan though, but even his star has faded somewhat in recent years and doesn't bring as much money to the table as some people believe.

No, I won't be instructed what to do and what not to do. This is a open boxing community where everyone has the right to express themselves. If you don't like it, stop clicking, or better yet, talk about boxing, you have yet to say a word about the actual sport, or react in a academic way to my position.

actually buddy, Vlad should have WAY MORE MONEY. He is the undisputed heavyweight champion of the world, for years and years, if you look at how much he earns compared to other men that held the same title, he is on the VERY bottom of the totem pole, its embarrassing. Factoring in inflation, he is one of the worst earning heavyweight champions ever. Relative to other athletes, who are much less successful then he is, yes, $30 million is a joke, and testament to both his style, and his fan appeal. Oh I didn't see your sexual reference, ok I am done, I only debate with people that want to have an educated discussion. ugh, peace.
