I think they turned down Lara and Canelo because they knew Kirkland would lose. He is an exciting, hard punching fighter who will score impressive KOs over lesser fighters. He will always be in the bottom half of the top 10 contenders. He will probably never win a world title because he is too easy to hit and doesn't have a good chin. He is past 30 and has never won a title and he probably never will. He is not going to get any better.

That's exactly what I think the problem was. He's gonna fold Rosado. It's gonna be a bad night for Philly. First him and then Hopkins is getting stretched out by Drago!

I don't think he's an idiot, well hes not that bright, but, i think it's more like his team knows his limitations and that if he lost to canelo his possibility of getting big fights is gone. They feel he can beat rosado which will lead to another good fight and pay day.

I have no problem with ANYONE ignoring Lara, **** that running coward.

It does bother me a bit that they passed on Canelo though... HOWEVER, I understand them not wanting to take on a big name right away after the year long layoff. I think it is a smart move for him and for his career. Anyways, he is not taking a tuneup fight either... Rosado is the real deal.

I wonder if it had to do with weight... Canelo refuses to go up to 160 (we know why.. look at my username). I think Kirkland would have had problems making 154 after the break. His last fight with Tapia took place at 156.
