Wembley Arena, London - George Groves (20-2, 15KOs) bounced back from back to back stoppage defeats to IBF/WBA 'regular' champion Carl Froch, with a twelve round unanimous decision over the tough as nails Christopher Rebrasse (22-3, 6KOs) to capture the EBU/WBC silver super middleweight titles. Groves is now the mandatory challenger to WBC champion Anthony Dirrell. The scores were 118-110, 118-110 and 117-111.

Gotta say, I wasn't that impressed with Groves last night. He didn't start slipping the jab until the 5th round, just continuously eating it until Rebrasse slowed down. He was throwing a lot of rather ineffective shots, going over the top of Rebrasses head with hooks or loading up with uppercuts. Whenever Rebrasse dug in and threw a few shots he was landing. The only thing impressive about Groves last night was his work rate.

Under Booth, Groves always had a good and clear gameplan that always got to his opponent. His gameplan in the 2nd Froch fight ******. Here the gameplan seemed to be just punch non stop, and in the end it was more talent than tactics that meant Groves was getting any clean shots off.

Technically he has gone backwards since the 1st Carl Froch fight which isn't a good omen for future fights against better opponents.
