Khan has many loyal uk fans that back him no matter what. They would help Khan win any poll.That doesn't change the fact that Khan has not defeated a world rated opponent in 4 years. If Mayweather fights Khan before Khan redeems himself from back to back losses to Peterson and Garcia[BY KO] then Mayweather would indeed be guilty of ducking the fighters who deserve a Mayweather fight so much more than Khan. Mayweather did the right thing by fighting Maidana who earned his shot by beating a world welterweight champ in Broner. If Khan wants the Mayweather fight then earn it the same way by defeating world welterweight champ Brook if he can.

If I were to rank the welterweights, there are at least 8 and perhaps nine who are better than Amir Khan.. Of those 8 - Thurman, Maidana, Guerrero, Alexander, Kell Brook, Bradley, Pacquaio, and Porter --Khan has only fought one. He needs to beat at least one more of these guys before he even thinks about a fight with Mayweather.

Does anyone really want Khan to defeat Mayweather? Khan won't ever stop telling the world how great he is in spite of his mediocre accomplishments and his humiliating KO losses. Imagine if Khan actually beat Mayweather. He would never shutup about his greatness and would probably have statues of himself put all over England and Las Vegas. It would be a disgrace and a black eye to boxing to have the world's best fighter for the last decade or more defeated by a guy who was KOed by Prescott and Garcia and outpointed by Peterson and knocked down by washed up Diaz. If Mayweather loses I hope it is to an outstanding fighter and not to a glass jawed, cherry picking, loser, bragger like Amir Khan.

Check out Ring Magazine's welterweight rankings. They are almost identical to your rankings and the magazine is owned by Khan's promoter. They rank Khan number 9 at welterweight and boxrec ranks Khan at 11th in the world's welterweights. So Khan is NOT first in line for a Mayweather fight but more like 9th or 10th in line.
