What will happen in this case is the same thing I have seen before from one of those promoters-in-name-only. Caribe will fail to pay the up front money required to stage the fight and the fight will be cancelled. The winning bid, $317,000 is a lousy amount of money considering what Rigondeaux has been getting for his fights.
If all else fails, Mayweather will need some undercard fighters for his fight in May. He will gladly pay Rigondeaux $237,000 for an undercard fight.

I am sure the Caribe Promotions guy was hoping that Bob Arum or someone would step up and outbid him for this fight. In fact, I think he was counting on it. With all the costs associated with staging a fight, including renting a facility, I figure Caribe will need between $500,000 and $600,000 to stage this fight. Since I doubt Caribe Promotions has even $100,000 sitting in its bank account, this fight will not happen.

I am a Floyd fan, so I am not mocking him. What I was saying was he needs undercard fighters and this price, Rigondeaux would be as cheap as the ones on his last card. And since Caribe will likely default on the payment and cause the fight to be cancelled, Rigondeaux will begging for someone to pay him to fight.

It's a damn shame how Rigo's career is being handled. This guy is a gem to watch, poetry in the form of boxing, and can't get a fight with a MAJOR PROMOTER. Am I missing something? With his talent, I'd be showcasing it three to four times a year. He's not a PPV star and probably never will be but he should be featured on more undercards. The problem Arum had with him is that he couldn't turn Rigo into a MAIN-EVENT attraction, but why shelve him? I think Rigo is a lot more fun to watch, than some of these pathetic Co-Main Events, and even lamer undercards.
Rigo versus ANYONE with a PULSE > 80% of PPV undercards (and even some MAIN EVENTS). Lol I exaggerate, but still.
